A 74-year-old Bunnell woman died in a single car crash on U.S. 1 in the fourth fatality on Flagler County roads on Feb. 25.
The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. near the Atlantis Shopping Center at 2323 North State Street in Bunnell, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
The woman, who was driving north on the inside lane, lost control of the car and ran off the roadway to the right, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol. The car overturned, striking a utility pole.
The car came to rest in a ditch, facing southwest. Witnesses reported that it appeared to be packed with items.
The woman died at the scene of the crash.
It was the third fatal crash of the day, and the fourth traffic death: The two other crashes had occurred in the morning on western State Road 100 as fog impeded visibility. Both were head-on collisions, the first crash killing one passenger, and the second killing both drivers.
