Seventeen children from the Ormond Beach area received the "VIP treatment" on Dec. 23, 2021, with a trip to see the Orlando Magic basketball team at the Amway Center, courtesy of a sponsorship from Holub Development.
According to a press release, the children were chaperoned to the game in a luxury bus and treated to the amenities in the center's VIP lounge. Though the
Orlando Magic lost the game to the New Orleans Pelicans 110-104, "it didn't damper the excitement of an experience the kids will remember for the rest of their lives," the release states.
The South Ormond Neighborhood Center expressed its gratitude to Holub Development, which is one of several sponsors who help staff continue to mentor local youth and serve as positive role models.
One local real estate agent recently treated friends to an ice cream at Surfin' Scoops, an action of kindness that caught the eye of one of her former clients.
Angela DiMauro, owner of Aloha Realty, advertised on Facebook over the Christmas holidays that she would be buying an ice cream for her Facebook friends on Jan. 1, according to an email by Ormond-by-the-Sea resident Terri Aucella, who DiMauro helped three years ago in the search of her new home.
"Since then, we have become friends because she is committed to fostering warm relationships with her clients, and promoting local enterprises," Aucella wrote. "I have learned about so many restaurants, shops, and places of interest because she has gone out of her way to positively publicize them.
Aucella added that DiMauro's kind desire to generate publicity for the ice cream shop — which recently opened — "embodies the Aloha spirit she has learned from living and working in Hawaii years ago."
