1:12 a.m. — First block of West Granada Boulevard
Resisting an officer without violence. A 39-year-old Ormond Beach woman was arrested after she refused to comply with officers' requests to stay inside a her vehicle, choosing instead to ask "what her rights were" repeatedly.
According to her arrest report, officers were at the scene responding to a battery and approached two women sitting in a vehicle that was said to be involved. Police instructed the driver to get out of her car, and she complied. Her passenger did too, and police asked her to get back in the car.
She ignored the command, and officers asked her to then step away from the car. She again, ignored the command, continuing to question about her rights. She was secured in handcuffs after an altercation that resulted in one officer cutting his finger.
She was taken to jail.
12:35 a.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1
Unarmed burglary. Police arrested a 31-year-old Daytona Beach man who attempted to steal 40 TVs from a hotel currently being renovated.
According to his arrest report, officers were dispatched to the building after a witness saw the man, wearing a reflective vest and red hat, inside the building. Upon their arrival, they were approached by the man's fiancé, who asked them what they were doing there. She declined to provide them with information regarding the man's name or whereabouts, and was temporarily detained.
Once inside, officers spotted the man in a storage room, and said that his friend — whom he said stole a TV — had let him inside. He told them he was stealing things like bed sheets, blankets, trash bags and napkins because he was homeless.
A cart full of toiletries was found near a side door, as well as a second cart full of TVs near the entrance of the building.
He was taken to jail.
10 a.m. — 800 block of West Victoria Circle
Aggravated battery. A 23-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested for attacking a 19-year-old man with a pool cue.
The victim told officers that the man drove to his house, got out with the pool cue in hand and began attacking him with it in his garage, striking him several times in the heads, legs and hands. The victim said the altercation was "over a female," according to the man's arrest report, but said he had no more details to give on the matter.
The man turned himself in to police and was taken to jail.
