Sustainable Fishing

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St., Ormond Beach

Details: Jill Christoferson, a biological scientist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, will discuss best practices for sustainable fishing. This is part of the library's educational programs for adults. Registration is not required. Programs are cosponsored by the Friends of the Ormond Beach Library. Art in Harmony opening reception

When: 6-8 p.m.

"Morning Vista" by William Lurcott

Where: Gallery500, 1870 Victory Circle, Daytona Beach

Details: Attend the opening reception for Gallery500's exhibition, Art in Harmony. The exhibition will showcase new painting, sculptures and photographs by 12 regional and national contemporary artists, including several of whom who are local. The event is open to the public. The exhibition will be on display through Aug. 28.

Movies in the Park

When: 8:45-10:45 p.m.

Where: Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast

Details: Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, picnic baskets and watch "Cool Runnings," rated PG, at Central Park. This event is presented by Palm Coast Parks and Recreation.

Historical coastal forts

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St., Ormond Beach

Details: Zach Zacharias, senior curator of education and curator of history at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, will share information about the historic coastal forts of Florida. This is part of the library's educational programs for adults. Registration is not required. Programs are cosponsored by the Friends of the Ormond Beach Library. Low-cost pet shot clinic

When: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Astro Skate, 251 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach

Details: Get your pet vaccinated at a lower cost. Rabies shots will cost $5 for 1-year vaccinations. Other shots offered include dog distemper/parvo combo, dog flu, cat distemper combo, feline leukemia and more. Heartworm prevention and flea control products will be available for purchase. All vaccinations are administered with a licensed veterinarian. Make a Christmas ornament

B-CU watch party

Where: Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center, 698 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach

Details: Bethune-Cookman University is inviting alumni and friends of the university to join together for a watch party to celebrate the installation of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune's statue at Statuary Hall on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Bethune will be the first African American to have a state-commissioned statue in the U.S. Capitol's Statuary Hall. Her statue replaces that of a Confederate general. Mother Hen quilting help

Details: The Mother Hen group of the Racing Fingers Quilt Guild hosts a community outreach meeting on the second Thursday of the month, welcoming all who have quilting questions, want information about the guild, or just want to sit and sew with the group, which is making fidget quilts to donate to Alzheimer and dementia patients. Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club meeting

When: 7-8 p.m.

Where: 56 N. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach

Details: The July meeting of the Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club will be in-person and on Zoom. Candidate Andy Kelly for County Council At-Large will speak. Details: The African American Museum and Cultural Center of Florida, in partnership with the Florida Humanities, presents, "Water|Ways," a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street program. Water|Ways explores the endless motion of the water cycle, water's effect on landscape, settlement and migration, and its impact on culture and spirituality.
