Who let the dogs out on the runway?
Dear God Are We There Yet, a local volunteer foundation, hosted its first in-person event at Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park on Saturday, July 9. The "Pawject Runway" Dog Fashion show helped raise $1,895 as of Monday, July 11, and 10% of funds will go toward Sophie's Circle, a dog rescue and pet food pantry nonprofit. The remainder of the funds will go toward Dear God Are We There Yet's impact microgrant program to help community members with local initiatives.
The foundation was started in 2020 by Ormond-by-the-Sea resident Alicia Sanchez, who has a passion for volunteering and helping the community.
"Community is everything and that is the power of volunteering and advocating for other causes," Sanchez said. "Our nonprofit will forever encourage others to make time and to use their voice even if it shakes. In this case, advocating for animal causes that can't speak for themselves."
Though the event took already took place, donations are still accepted for the fundraiser. Visit http://donate.deargodarewethereyet.com/
