A 2.5-month Flagler County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to arrest warrants for 18 drug dealers and the seizure of large amounts of fentanyl — potentially enough to kill more than 98,000 people, given fentanyl's estimated lethal dose of 2 milligrams.
After an arrest sweep on July 14, FCSO’s Operation “Meth Side Story” resulted in 13 arrests. One more suspect was arrested later in the day. The FCSO is still searching for the remaining four drug dealers.
This operation focused on drug dealers in Bunnell and the Mondex area of Flagler County.
FCSO’s Special Investigations Unit and the FCSO P.A.C.E. Unit served the felony arrest warrants the morning of July 14.
Some suspects of “Operation Meth Side Story” had previously been arrested during the undercover operation, when search warrants were served at their poison-peddling locations. Others were already in the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
As of the July 14 arrests, more than $31,000 cash was seized, along with enough narcotics in the operation to potentially kill the entire population of Palm Coast.
Among the controlled substances seized in the operation were fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, THC oil, methamphetamine, and cannabis.
“These drug dealers are now finding out what happens to poison peddlers in Flagler County,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “These 18 poison peddlers have faced more than 159 felony charges combined over the course of their criminal life. These poison peddlers have been convicted 51 times. If you are a drug dealer in Flagler County and we didn’t get you this time you, better watch over your shoulder as we are coming for you next.”
Suspects in the operation range in age from 21 to 66. One of those facing charges, Twain Slater, is a well-known career felon in Flagler County. With a local criminal history dating back to 2010, Slater has been charged with 20 felonies and 19 misdemeanors in Flagler County alone, mainly for narcotic-related arrests.

“As a result of the hard work of our Special Investigations Unit, this operation led to getting these drug dealers arrested for poison peddling in our community, and seizing deadly drugs. Hopefully, Operation Meth Side Story will save some lives,” Staly said. “If we are still looking for you, I suggest you turn yourself in, as it’s only a matter of time before we find you and take you to the Green Roof Inn.”
Each defendant arrested was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where they will remain until they post bond or appear before a judge.
