Former St. Johns County School District administrator Kristin Bozeman has been named the new principal at Matanzas High School.
Bozeman's appointment was approved by the Flagler County School Board on July 19. She replaces Jeff Reaves, who moved to the district office to become the director of teaching and learning.
“Kristen’s background makes her a perfect fit for Matanzas High School,” Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt said in a statement. “She will be focused on academics and building relationships within the campus walls and the community surrounding MHS. She will also be a guiding force as Matanzas prepares for unparalleled growth in the coming years.”
Bozeman has been a teacher and administrator in the St. Johns district since 2005. She was most recently the director of instructional personnel. She was an assistant principal at four different schools — Pedro Menendez, Creekside and St. Augustine high schools and Sebastian Middle School. She also served as a program specialist for virtual and home education, was a registrar at Creekside High and an English teacher at Nease and Creekside.
Bozeman earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Florida in 2005 and a master's degree in English in 2007.
Bozeman said she was honored to be selected as the principal at Matanzas.
"Working with high school students is my passion, so I can't wait to meet the students, staff, and families that make up Pirate Nation," Bozeman said.
