DUI. Police were dispatched to a neighborhood after receiving notice of a 32-year-old Ormond Beach woman who was passed out inside of a pickup truck on the side of the road.
A witness told police that he had followed the truck for about two miles on South Beach Street and that its driver had been swerving into oncoming traffic and narrowly missing several bicyclists. When the witness approached the driver, the woman was sleeping in the driver's seat. The officer approached the vehicle and noticed the woman was still inside with the vehicle running. The officer asked the woman to open the door, and according to her arrest report, the woman was confused and "looked as if she did not know how to open the door."
When police attempted to turn off the car, the reporting officer noticed the vehicle was still in drive as the keys could not be removed from the ignition. The woman told police that she was on her way back from dropping off her friends; she declined to speak with police, perform field sobriety exercises or submit to a breath test. She yelled at officers as she was detained for drunk driving.
Once in the patrol car, the woman repeated that she was not a "bad person" and that she had never been in trouble. She cried and stated she wasn't drunk, according to her arrest report, but did apologize for drinking and driving.
She was taken to jail.

Vandalism. A dental group employee called police to report a 54-year-old Pierson man had been waiting in their lobby for 20 minutes before he was called back to the patient room, where he waited for another 40 minutes.
The man became upset, went to the front desk and started yelling about "how our office sucks," the incident report detailed. The employee said she tried apologizing for the inconvenience and tried to explain to the man that the office was short-staffed. The man kept yelling and slammed open the main door to the office, which caused slight damage to the door, a small hole in the wall and broke the electrical outlet plate.
The employee simply sought to file a report on the incident; the dental group didn't press charges. The man was informed he would no longer be a patient of theirs and that he had been trespassed.
8:39 a.m. — 500 block of Collins Street
Larceny. An Ormond Beach resident called police to report that his sister, a 39-year-old Ormond Beach woman, had stolen his air fryer while he was not home.
The man said his mother told his sister not to take it, but that his sister did anyway. She had attempted to do so in the past, he added, as the two used to live together. The man had received the air fryer from a friend and roommate who had recently died. He didn't wish to press charges — he only wanted his sister to return the air fryer.
Police attempted to contact the sister by phone and left a voicemail asking her to call them back regarding the incident.
