Flagler County Budget Manager Brian Eichinger has earned the designation of Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) – considered to be the highest credentialed echelon within government financial management.
“The Florida Government Finance Officers Association’s CGFO Program is the largest state certification program in the nation,” said Financial Services Director John Brower. “This recognition furthers Brian’s credibility and distinguishes his career and the sustained impact he has, and will continue to have, in the vitally important budget and fiscal function within our organization.”
To achieve this designation, candidates must successfully complete a series of five rigorous examinations covering the major disciplines of public finance: accounting and financial reporting, debt administration, financial administration, budgeting, and treasury management.
Eichinger is only the third recipient of the CGFO designation in Flagler County, following Brower and the Clerk of Court and Comptroller’s chief financial officer. He is one of only 548 designees in the state.
“To put an exclamation mark on Brian’s accomplishment – although this data is not officially collected – given the minimum related professional experience and requirements necessary to even apply for the designation and the rigorous, in-depth preparation and performance necessary to successfully pass the five examinations, I feel comfortable saying he is one of the youngest, if not the youngest, finance professional to attain the CGFO certification,” Brower told the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners during a recent meeting.
Eichinger, 29, has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and majored in accounting. He is working on his Master of Public Administration and anticipates completion in the fall of 2023. He has worked for Flagler County for going on seven years.
“I appreciate the opportunities that have been afforded to me while working here for Flagler County,” Eichinger said. “I have had the support of John Brower, administration, and the board, which is great.”
Brower praised Eichinger for his professionalism.
“I know from working with you every day how dedicated and driven you are, and there is no doubt you will have many more successes in your career,” Brower said.
