Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A 37-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested after he attempted to attack his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend with a tire iron after a verbal altercation.

According to his arrest report, the man told police that his ex came to his home earlier that morning and claimed that he had found meth in her purse. She walked away from the residence, and the man tried to follow her in his car. He then called police, and an officer advised him to return to his home and not look for his ex.

As soon as the man hung up the call with the officer, he spotted her with her new boyfriend and began to follow her. He pulled into a gas station in the 1600 block of West Granada Boulevard and they began to yell and argue at each other, according to the police report. The man then parked, grabbed the tire iron and approached the couple. He was intercepted by a bystander, who was able to disarm him.

He was taken to jail.

Vandalism. Upon leaving her workplace, a Daytona Beach woman found her car vandalized in the parking lot. Her license plate and windshield wiper had been bent, and her front windshield was smashed with a brick.

The woman told police she believed the perpetrator was a disgruntled former employee who had been fired the previous day and escorted off the property. The woman said the employee claimed he would return to the workplace, and believed that he mistook her vehicle for one of the managers with whom he was upset.

She wished to pursue charges.
