Matanzas freshman Tiana Fries became the first Flagler County girls wrestler to win a state championship. The Pirates had three other girls place at the state championships March 3-5 at Kissimmee: Mariah Mills (third), Isabella Tietje (sixth) and Christina Borgmann (eighth).
Tyson Mills and Jordan Mills were each runners-up in boys Class 2A. Flagler Palm Coast's Blane DeFord (fourth), Kole Hannant (sixth), Marcelo Gonzalez (sixth) and Garrick Scwartz (seventh) each placed in Class 3A.
Mainland had two girls medalists: Jah'Mya Hill (fourth place) and Cheyenne Wigley (seventh).
