The City Repertory Theatre will honor Women's History Month with its production of “The Revolutionists,” a dark comedy written by Lauren Gunderson that takes place during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, 1793-1794.
The play revolves around four bold women — three historical figures and a composite character, Haitian revolutionary Marianne Angelle.
The CRT production stars Julia Truilo, who plays former queen Marie Antoinette; Angela Young who plays assassin Charlotte Corday; Leigh Ann Singleton, who plays playwright Olympe de Gouges; and Phillipa Rose, who plays Angelle.
Director John Sbordone said, “‘The Revolutionists’ has everything: Joy and heartbreak, laughter and tears, history and fantasy, great acting and phantasmagoria. And what could be better than a comedy that starts with a beheading?”
The play will be performed at the CRT in City Marketplace, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite B207, on March 18, 19 and 20 and March 25, 26 and 27 with shows scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for adults. Go to https://crtpalmcoast.com or call (386) 585-9415.
