Volusia County Schools’ College and Career Acceleration Rate was the highest ever in the 2020-2021 school year.
The CCA rose to 69%, an increase of 23 percentage points. The College and Career Acceleration Rate is the percentage of students from the graduating class that earned an acceleration point at any time during their four years in high school.
Students can earn an acceleration point with any of the following:
- Passing score on a College Board Advanced Placement examination
- Passing score on an International Baccalaureate examination
- Passing score on an Advanced International Certificate of Education examination
- Passing a dual enrollment course
- Earning an industry certification
College and Career Acceleration
- All high schools experienced large increases.
- Deltona High School earned the highest acceleration rate for the second year in a row with an acceleration rate of 90% in 2020-2021, a 16% increase since 2019- 2020.
- All schools have an acceleration rate of at least 51%
Breakdown
- AP, IB, and Dual Enrollment saw decreases in the district wide average, but some schools maintained.
- AICE had increases across the board, with major increases at Deltona and Seabreeze High Schools.
- Industry Certifications saw the largest increases across all high schools, with a 62% pass rate across the district and an 87% pass rate at Deltona High.
- While the percentage of students earning a College and Career Acceleration point through Dual Enrollment decreased, the class of 2020–2021 had the largest number of students (155) graduate high school with an Associates of Arts degree as a result of Dual Enrollment.
