The Flagler County Sheriff's Office Motors Unit and Community Policing Division conducted a special St. Patrick’s Day traffic enforcement detail and reported making a total of 109 traffic stops resulting in 18 noncriminal citations, 20 warnings, and four citations for driving while license suspended.
Deputies responded to six crashes, made one felony arrest for DWLS and made one felony arrest from a traffic stop with the seizure of methamphetamine. The most egregious offender “Deputy Leprechaun” caught was a motorist driving 98 mph in a 45 mph zone on Belle Terre Parkway. No DUI arrests were made on St. Patrick’s Day.
“This was a very successful traffic operation, and I can’t thank the community enough for taking such an active role in keeping our roadways safe,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.
