Neild Joseph, 22, was released from the county jail — where he was being was being held on a domestic violence charge — on March 22.
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested him again on March 23 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and a probation violation.
Deputies on patrol in Palm Coast near Cypress Point Parkway had noticed a vehicle with man expired tag fail to stop at a stop sign.
When deputies pulled over his car, Joseph at first tried to get out of the vehicle as deputies approached.
The could smell marijuana coming from the car, and Joseph appeared nervous.
There was loose marijuana on his lap and a can containing marijuana in the cup holder.
Joseph was secured. During a search, he told deputies that he'd stuffed marijuana in his underwear because he “was scared and gets really nervous,” so he hid it.
Upon a search of the vehicle, deputies found what appeared to be fake urine in a container hidden in a black sock in the glove box.
A Mountain Dew “hide-a-can” in the center cup holder contained marijuana, and there was loose marijuana on the seat, floorboard, and ground outside the car door.
There was also a backpack containing burnt plastic straws, a grinder and a fanny pack with a grinder in it.
A total of 16.1 grams of marijuana was recovered on Joseph and from the vehicle.
It was discovered that Joseph was on probation for Possession of Methamphetamine from North Dakota in 2021.
Joseph has a criminal history in Flagler County dating back to 2018 for Child Abuse and Domestic Battery.
He’s previously been charged in North Dakota for Violation of Domestic Violence Protection Order, Felony Terrorizing, Fleeing Law Enforcement on Foot, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.
“This case is a prime example of dirtbags taking advantage of a weak criminal justice system resulting in a revolving door at the jail,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This guy was arrested on March 18 for domestic battery and violation of probation and then quickly released by the system. Within 24 hours of being released from jail, he was arrested for drug charges and another violation of his probation. He clearly hasn’t learned his lesson. Hopefully this time he will face strong consequences for continuously breaking the law in Florida and North Dakota.”
Joseph was taken to the county jail. He was arrested for Violation of Probation and is additionally facing charges for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana Under 20g and Tampering with Evidence, and being held on no bond.
