Tips appreciated

11:30 a.m. — 600 block of South Yonge Street

Burglary. A business called police after an unknown suspect broke into their building and stole change from a tip jar, and about three-quarters of a dollar bill that was tacked in front of the jar.

According to the report, the business owner noticed upon arrival that the back window was open, with the lock appearing broken or forced open. Not much was missing beyond the $3 in the tip jar, she indicated, but the food in her fridge did spoil as the burglar left the fridge door open.

She wished to pursue charges.

Supermarket loiterer

7:12 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard

Loitering or prowling. A 31-year-old DeLand man was arrested after he was seen trying to enter locked cars in the parking lot of a supermarket.

Police report that upon their arrival, they noticed the man's shirt was inside out and that he appeared to be under the influence of narcotics or alcohol. While police were speaking to him, he was unable to stand upright, and was slurring his speech. He initially couldn't tell officers why he was at the supermarket, but later said he was there to buy deodorant.

Supermarket employees said he had entered the store, pushed three carts, yelled and then taken his leave. He was trespassed from the store and transported to jail.
