This Memorial Day weekend, May 27 and 28, the Heroes Honor Festival is taking over the Daytona International Speedway to honor Vietnam veteran heroes with the celebration they deserve.
Headlined by country music stars Toby Keith, Justin Moore, Craig Morgan and guests of honor, the Heroes Honor Festival is part country music festival, part USO show, and is a celebration of our Vietnam veterans over Memorial Day weekend. The public is invited.
A few facts about Vietnam veterans:
- 58,220 veterans were killed in Vietnam
- 25% of Vietnam veterans were drafted. Their choice was serve or prison.
- Over 300,000 have died from the effects of Agent Orange
- Over 60% of all veteran suicides are Vietnam veterans
- With an average age of 68, over 500 Vietnam veterans die each day currently, up from 330 two years ago
- This is our last moment to honor this generation of veterans before they are gone forever.
Additional special guests will include:
- Gov. Ron DeSantis, a former Lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and active in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
- Ann-Margret, award-winning entertainer, frequently played shows in Vietnam.
- Chris Noel, retired American actress and entertainer who worked at Armed Forces Radio and Television Service as the "Voice of Vietnam.”
- Major Gen. Patrick Brady, a Vietnam War helicopter pilot and one of two people to receive the Medal of Honor and Distinguished Service Cross.
- Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force.
- Lt. Col. Oliver North, a combat decorated U.S. marine, best-selling author, founder of two successful small businesses and holder of three U.S. patents.
- Mark "Oz" Geist, bestselling co-author of “13 Hours” and security and military consultant credited with saving 25 people in the attack on Benghazi.
