No Kid Hungry recently awarded $1 million dollars in grants to organizations across Florida to support programs that provide healthy meals to children and families.

Food Brings Hope received $100,000 to expand its multicultural food pantry and distribution of Feed-A-Family food bags and emergency food bags, and fund staff and supply costs, including shelving, coolers and warmers, refrigerators, transportation, and food costs.

“With No Kid Hungry’s help, we are able to reach more families," said Judi Winch, executive director of Food Brings Hope. "When we started it was only 50 families, and now it's 150 families. No Kid Hungry understands it isn’t just about the food. It’s making that connection and giving these families hope.”

Over 22% of children in Florida live in “food insecure” homes, meaning these households don’t have enough food for every family member to lead a healthy life.

“This summer might be the hungriest one yet for many kids, as so many families continue to struggle with the economic impact of the pandemic alongside the rising cost of food and fuel,” said Sky Beard, director of No Kid Hungry Florida. “We’re proud to partner with Food Brings Hope to ensure families feel supported with nutritious food to help throughout the summer months.”
