Fletcher's Irish Pub and the Live Like Cameron Foundation is inviting the community to help raise money for children battling cancer by participating in the third-annual Shave for the Brave fundraiser, to be held at noon on Sunday, Dec. 11.

The proceeds will go toward the foundation's Christmas programs, which both help bring a holiday experience to pediatric oncology patients in the hospital on Christmas morning and also help make Christmas special for the children battling cancer in Flagler and Volusia County who will be home for the holiday.

Participants can get their beard or mustache shaved on the day of the fundraiser by one of the barbers of Proper Barber Co,, an Ormond Beach-based business.

According to a press release, the fundraiser also features a cornhole tournament prior to the live shaving party. There will be raffle prizes and other activities. You can donate to a Shave for the Brave team at runsignup.com/Race/FL/OrmondBeach/ShavefortheBraveChildrenBattlingCancer, or pay $100 the day of the fundraiser to get shaved.

Last year's event raised over $50,000 and benefited 26 pediatric oncology patients, each of whom received a bag with a Nintendo Switch or AirPods, Switch games, Christmas decorations and other surprises, the press release states. A total of 29 local children and teens with childhood cancer, and their siblings, also received gifts.
