Stroller troubles

7:44 p.m. 5100 block of east State Road 100, Palm Coast

Petit theft. A woman was caught on surveillance cameras shoplifting a stroller and several other items.

The woman, 31, walked out of the store with the stolen merchandise, pushing the stroller she took from the display, the charging affidavit said.  An off-duty Flagler County Sheriff Office deputy watched her walk out with the items and followed her to her car, where he identified himself and asked her to return the times inside. The woman loaded them into her trunk and left without responding.

An hour later, the car was spotted by a patrolling FCSO deputy and pulled over, the report said. The items — the stroller, valued at $329, two boxes of pacifiers and a bra — were photographed and then returned to the store. The woman said she had fallen on hard times and was staying at a local shelter.

Deputies charged her with petit theft.

Terrorizing tenants

9:16 a.m. 40 block of Filbert Lane, Palm Coast

Residential burglary, criminal mischief. A rental property was broken into and vandalized. The individuals spray painted swear words and graffiti over the walls, culminating in an estimated $3,000 of damages.

The property manager came to check on the home and found graffiti painted on the backside and inside of the home. The vandals had removed a screen from a bedroom window and presumably entered the house that way, the incident report said. Among the graffiti, the individuals had sprayed, "Stop Locking my Home," with a swear word at the end, on the wall.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies were intending to contact the previous tenants in about the vandalism, the report said.
