One Daytona welcomes the One Daytona Art Festival in partnership with Gallery500, a contemporary fine art gallery at the lifestyle and entertainment center. The festival is officially sold out with more than 100 artists and vendors that will be onsite, maximizing the event experience for the award-winning art festival. The event is free and open to all visitors throughout the entire weekend.
The art festival is scheduled for Oct. 22-23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and returns for its third consecutive year.
The free event offers an opportunity for local and visiting collectors to experience culture and refinement over the course of two days with high-end artists, crafters, jazz music on the stage in Victory Circle, live art by Gallery500 and cash prizes for winning artists.
“We are excited to co-host the upcoming One Daytona Art Festival in partnership with Gallery500,” said Roxanne Ribakoff, president of One Daytona. “We look forward to welcoming a diverse variety of local, regional, and international artists while bringing new aspects to the festival experience for guests to enjoy.”
A fresh sophistication this year is the Wine Walk at One Daytona, where visitors will have the option of purchasing a passport to enjoy a glass of wine at one of the participating restaurants and entertainment destinations at One Daytona. Each passport is $35 and will have five tabs redeemable for a glass of wine at the participating locations.
Each morning, guests can also attend live painting and artist Q&A sessions, as well as an artist panel at Gallery500. Live art will take place in Victory Circle during the afternoon jazz concerts.
A new mural at One Daytona, in partnership with Natasha Azri of the Save the Arts Movement, will be revealed on Saturday afternoon. The mural will display as another great addition to the public arts campaign in One Daytona and to the mural Erwin Dazelle completed last Fall.
A returning favorite is the Chalk Art Competition presented by ArtHaus where artists will compete for Best in Show and Best in Show Runner Up awards. Visitors can participate in the People’s Choice award by voting for their favorite chalk art display through a donation. The Chalk Art Competition awards ceremony will take place on the stage in Victory Circle on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
The One Daytona Art Festival will feature more than 100 artists and vendors, representing a mix of local, regional, national, and international painters, photographers, and artisans. Jacksonville native Bill Slade will return to the One Daytona Art Festival this year to once again showcase his work. Slade is a glass artist who works with his son, Jon, to keep the art of glass blowing in the family. He is also last year’s recipient of the Best in Show award.
Andres Montenegro is a local artist born in Lima, Peru, who will participate for the first time in this event. His work is mainly influenced by ancient pre-Columbian civilizations, their deities, and ceramics. Montenegro’s Peruvian heritage presents itself physically in the form of nostalgia, and awe to the historic legacy left by these cultures.
The Saturday awards ceremony will take place on the Victory Circle stage at 5 p.m. on Oct. 22. Artists entered in the juried portion of the festival will compete to win prizes for Best in Show, Award of Distinction, and Award of Merit. In total, more than $6,000 will be awarded in prizes this year.
The weekend’s festivities will also include a Volusia County Public Schools student art exhibit, a creative Kids Zone with hands-on art projects by ArtHaus, live music, food and more.
On Oct. 22, starting at 6 p.m. in the Retreat at Victory Circle, 12 regional artists will compete to win the Daytona Beach Art Battle. Tickets to attend the regional Art Battle at One Daytona are available on Eventbrite.
In November 2021, the One Daytona Art Festival provided significant donations to the area’s arts education including $13,500 donated to Volusia County Schools Visual Arts Program and $4,000 to ArtHaus. All proceeds from this year’s event will once again be donated to Volusia County Schools Visual Arts Program and ArtHaus.
The art festival was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, but was postponed to Oct. 22-23, due to severe weather forecasted for the original weekend.
