Daytona Beach-based aerospace company VerdeGo Aero recently completed its Series A investment funding round, and the Hatter Angel Network (HAN) — an alumni-based investment group affiliated with Stetson University — was among the investors, investing $265,000.

“VerdeGo Aero is excited about the broad strategic and financial support this Series A round creates for accelerating commercialization of our hybrid-electric technologies," VerdeGo Aero CEO Eric Bartsch said, according to a press release. "We look forward to expanding our world-class Daytona Beach, Florida-based team of aerospace technology and business leaders.”

In April 2022, several teams of Stetson University students in an entrepreneurship class vetted startup companies and pitched investment opportunities to the Hatter Angels Network, which is composed of Stetson alumni who are accredited investors. As a result, the venture capital group invested in two Florida companies — VerdeGo Aero, for $265,000; and the Fort Lauderdale-based Xendoo, for $135,000.  The investment by the HAN also led to a board observer role for one of the Stetson students, Sadie Jensen.
