- Palm Coast City Council was considering an ordinance to ban synthetic marijuana from area stores. They approved it unanimously the following week.
- Milissa Holland — then serving as a county commissioner before her later election to Palm Coast mayor in 2016— raised concerns during a commission meeting about unregulated vacation rentals. "These homes, which were constructed as if they were single-family residences, are being converted into what's more like vacation bunkhouses," she said. The county eventually passed an ordinance regulating the rentals. Holland was not longer a commissioner when it was approved.
- Local teacher Mary Ann Hilton's class of second-graders had "adopted" a sea turtle nest, learning from it until the eggs hatched. There were 96 hatched eggs, and five which did not hatch.
