Suspicious person. Someone called the Sheriff's Office about a suspicious person wearing a black trench coat near a school entrance.

According to the incident report, the responding deputy found an old man NOT matching the suspicious person's description, an empty car in the nearby park, and not much else.

After an hour of sleuthing, a review the school's security system revealed the man in question: the husband of an employee, dropping off lunch for his wife.

The man was then informed of proper lunch drop-off procedures. His actions, according to the incident report, "could be seen as suspicious."

Sept. 4

Totes spooky

12:30 p.m. 3800 block Old Kings Rd N, Palm Coast

Commercial Burglary. Ten to 12 storage containers were reported stolen from a women’s storage unit.

The owner, her twin sister and her brother-in-law were the only ones with access to the unit, but none had taken the storage totes. Inside? Miscellaneous Halloween items.

The owner was confused as to why those totes were taken, versus the much more expensive items next to the containers, according to the incident report. There was no sign of forced entry.

Neighbors are advised: Keep an eye out for any excessive Halloween decorations this year.
