- Flagler County's unemployment rate hit 12.4% in August 2012, according to a report released in Sept. 21 of that year. It was the second-highest rate of unemployment in Florida, behind Hendry County. The statewide rate was 9.4%.
- An abandoned, damaged 30-foot motorboat full of marijuana drifted into Beverly Beach, releasing bricks of the drug into the water as the waves pounded it. Tufts of pot were strewn across the beach and collected by law enforcement officers, who estimated that there had been 150 pounds of it on board.
- Florida Hospital Flagler celebrated its 10th birthday during its third-annual Family Fun and Safety Day. The hospital has since been renamed AdventHealth Palm Coast. “Our community is stronger because we have somebody looking out for our good health and our way of life,” the late Palm Coast Mayor Jon Netts had said at the event. “And of course, we, as a growing community, have enabled the hospital to expand upon its mission to bring us top quality health care.”
