Flooding and ruinous winds from Hurricane Ian have contributed to a mammoth cleanup for the city of Palm Coast, its residents and Flagler County.
The city and county remained on alert Friday to respond to events after the storm. Crews are assessing damage and working to repair power outages, remove debris and keep the community safe.
Business owners along the coast, especially in Flagler Beach, said they were relieved that most damage from the storm was external.
The Flagler Beach pier remains closed due to structural damage, and initial observations along the coast show sand loss and major erosion along Flagler County beaches.
In The Hammock, the storm caused 3-6 feet of dune erosion, with large swathes of coquina visible at locations that were previously covered by sand.
