UPDATE: Donald George Argraves pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor battery in connection with this case on June 29, 2023, and was adjudicated guilty. The prosecution dropped the charge of indecent exposure. ORIGINAL STORY:

A man has been arrested after he allegedly exposed his genitals to a woman and smelled her hair at a residential community’s clubhouse in Bunnell.

The incident happened on March 27 but the man, Donald George Argraves, 73, was not arrested by the Bunnell Police Department until April 2 while officers investigated the matter. Argraves has been charged with felony indecent exposure, according to Argraves’ arrest report.

He has also been charged with a misdemeanor battery for touching the victim who said Argraves came up behind her and touched and smelled her hair, his arrest report said.

Argraves lives in a residential community in Bunnell and the victim works at the community’s clubhouse. The victim told BPD officers she was speaking to Argraves at the clubhouse while she worked on her computer when she began to hear him moaning behind her, the arrest report said.

Without turning around, the victim looked at the surveillance footage on her computer and saw Argraves sitting in a chair, touching himself and fully exposing his genitals, the report said. Argraves then got up and walked up behind her to touch and smell her hair, the report said, telling the victim it smelled pretty.

The victim then told Argraves to leave the office and she stepped out to call her supervisor and BPD.

BPD officers responded to the scene and reviewed the footage, which only showed Argraves touching his groin area through his pants and later walking over to stand behind the victim. Because of the camera’s angle, BPD officers could not see what Argraves was doing.

When the officers confronted him, Argraves admitted to smelling the victim’s hair, the report said.

Through their investigation, BPD discovered that Argraves had a criminal history in New Jersey: one felony lewdness conviction from 2002 and two charges from 2020 for stalking and lewdness that were later dropped, the report said.

Based on the investigation and Argraves’ previous criminal history, the suspect was arrested and taken to the county jail, where he later posted bond.
