Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a body inside a car submerged in a pond at Matanzas Woods Parkway and Palm Harbor Parkway on April 24.

Though no official identification has been released, a Florida Highway Patrol report identifies the body as that of a 49-year-old woman, and the FCSO has confirmed that a woman recently reported missing — 49-year-old Erica Bergeron — had been driving the car when she disappeared.

Bergeron had last been seen on April 20, at Palm Coast Lanes.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The Toyota had been driving northeast on Palm Harbor Parkway near Cris Lane when it swerved off the road, hit a tree and veered into the retention pond, according to the FHP report.

The FCSO began searching the water with a dive team just after noon on April 24. Deputies pulled the car from the water just before 5 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation.

This is a developing story that has been updated since its publication.
