Two cats and two dogs are the Flagler Humane Society's featured pets for the week of Aug. 7. Meet Gypsy, Coast, Max and Riggs.
Gypsy is a very friendly 2-year-old female who loves to be petted and get treats. Gypsy was brought to the shelter as a stray after she was found in the U Section of Palm Coast in June.
Coast is a handsome 4-year-old male with a unique gray, tiger-stripe coat. Coast was brought to the shelter as a stray in June after he was found in the B Section of Palm Coast.
Max is a 3-year-and-10-month-old male. Max weighs 80 pounds and is loving and eager to please. He has also previously lived with other dogs and was first brought to the shelter after being seized by Animal Control because of owner neglect and abuse. He was adopted after spending months in the shelter, but was quickly returned in March through no fault of his own. Max hasn't let his past get him down however, as he is still happy, playful and loving with people.
Riggs is a 10-month-old purebred American Blue Heeler. Riggs weighs around 35 pounds now but shouldn't reach over 50 pounds full-grown. Riggs has lots of puppy energy but is very intelligent and eager to learn. He is crate- and house-trained. Riggs was surrendered for resource guarding his food and toys with the family's young children, so he would do best in a household with children 10 or older. He has been at the shelter since June.
The Flagler Humane Society, at 1 Shelter Drive off U.S. 1 in Palm Coast, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Adoption fees vary based on the animal, and the shelter has both dogs and cats up for adoption.
Anyone who is interested in adopting or has questions about the process can contact the Flagler Humane Society at 386-445-1814 or apply online at flaglerhumanesociety.org.
