Ormond Beach Police arrested a 30-year-old Daytona Beach woman in a $1.4 million embezzlement case involving local insurance company Security First on Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Samantha Link, a former accountant for the company, is facing charges of grand theft over $100,000 and organized scheme to defraud over $50,000, according to a press release. Her arrest was made in conjunction with investigators with the Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
"The teamwork and professionalism shown by our investigators and the prosecutors at the State Attorney’s Office are a true testament that offenders will be brought to justice, I couldn’t be prouder of their combined efforts," Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey said.
The State Attorney's Office has a dedicated "white-collar crime unit," State Attorney R. J. Larizza said in the press release.
"We are fortunate to have an excellent partnership with the Ormond Beach Police Department, and together we solved an economic crime of massive proportions.”
