A section of Pine Lakes Parkway will close from Aug. 21-25 to replace a collapsed culvert pipe.
Staff discovered the problem at Wellington Drive and Pine Lakes Parkway. The collapsed culvert could cause “catastrophic damage” to the roadway, City Manager Denise Bevan said during the Aug. 15 City Council meeting.
“This is a matter of public safety,” Bevan said. “We are doing everything we can to minimize the disruption but this is really a top priority for us right now.”
Pine Lakes Parkway will close near the southern entrance to Wellington Drive. A mandatory turnaround will require drivers to turn back toward Palm Coast Parkway and find an alternate route, a press release from the city said.
Drivers going west in Pine Lakes from Belle Terre have an alternate route through the northern Wellington Drive entrance.
Staff will place road barricades and signs on the parkway and at both entrances of Wellington Drive, Bevan said.
Stormwater Department crews will work 12-hour shifts to complete the repairs as quickly as possible.
