Hakiym Boyd joined the Marines at the age of 18. After boot camp, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine, 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He is a combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan. Through his honorable service, he earned the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal with One Star, NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Expert Rifle Qualification Badge. Boyd moved in 2018 with his wife, Rantayshia, to Palm Coast, where they are raising their four children.
