Big John leaves $140,000 for Our Lady of Lourdes Academy

John, who died on May 15, 2022, was known to be a community advocate with a big heart, as described by his longtime friend and attorney, Mel Stack.

Late radio host and former Volusia County Councilman Big John's philanthropy lives on. 

According to a press release, his estate bequeathed $140,000 to Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, a contribution that will fund scholarships and cover essential expenses for students in need. A check presentation took place during a recent Daytona Beach Rotary gathering

"Big John’s gift is a beacon of hope for our students, said Steve Dole, headmaster of Our Lady of Lourdes Academy. "His commitment to education and service exemplifies the spirit of Our Lady of Lourdes. We are honored to steward this legacy and empower future generations.”

John, who died on May 15, 2022, was known to be a community advocate with a big heart, as described by his longtime friend and attorney, Mel Stack.

“Big John’s heart was as big as his personality," he said in the press release. "His dedication to justice and compassion was unwavering. His gift to the academy reflects his belief in the transformative power of education.”
