The rain didn't go away — but it certainly didn't keep Christmas shopping at bay.
Board games. Dolls. Stuffed animals. Toy cars.
They all filled the shopping carts of 28 children chosen to participate in the Ormond Beach Police Department's seventh annual Shop with a Cop event held at the local Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 16. Though the event was held fully indoors this year due to the inclement weather, the children still scurried through store aisles with their partners — police officers who volunteer for the initiative — to choose how to best spend the $100 available to them for the shopping spree.
The children are typically chosen by their schools to participate in the event, which is held in partnership with Walmart. This year, the participants came from Pathways Elementary, Ormond Beach Elementary, Pine Trail Elementary and Tomoka Elementary.
