Jennie M. Arscott, 89 of Peterborough NH, passed away peacefully at Scott Farrar Assisted Living on December 3, 2023. She was born in Springfield, MA on April 14, 1934, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Russo) Cardarella.
Friends and family knew her as Jean or Jeannie. Jean was raised in Springfield Massachusetts and attended Cathedral High School also in Springfield MA. Married Kenneth J. Arscott Sr. (deceased) and raised three children (Ken Jr., Susan and Brian). The family moved to NJ in 1965 where Jean and Ken raised the family. Once the children were off to college, Jean went to work at a local department store as the manager of the Fine jewelry department. Next Jean worked for the Wells Fargo Bank until retirement. She started as a teller and eventually became the branch manager, she enjoyed her work, customers and staff. She was always gracious and welcoming to anyone she met.
One of Jean’s greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren. Holidays were always together with family. Mom made the best meatballs; they were in great demand from the family and packed in ice to take home.
After retiring from Wells Fargo Bank, Jean moved to Ormond Beach Florida to be with her closest friends (Donna and Andy) that moved there years prior, also from NJ. In Florida she lived in the same adult community as Donna and Andy and she made friends quickly. She joined the local Catholic Church in Ormond Beach and volunteered at the church consignment shop. She also volunteered at a local Hospice organization. She was an avid reader, loved to travel with her friend Herb Law and visit with relatives or have them come to Florida and stay with her. Herb lived in NJ but eventually moved to Florida.
After losing most of her closest friends and spending time during the COVID pandemic alone, she decided it was time to move back north and be with family. In November 2022 she moved to New Hampshire to be close to her daughter Susan. Sadly, in the late summer of 2023 she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
Surviving are her three adult children, Kenneth Arscott, Jr in Virginia., Susan Arscott in New Hampshire and Brian Arscott in Virginia. There are six grandchildren, Jennifer Berlingeri in NJ, Abby Arscott in NJ, Robert Arscott, Erin Bailey, Michael Arscott and Casey Arscott in Kansas. There are two great grandchildren, Owen and Adam Bramley.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jennie’s name to: The Jennie Scott Legacy Fund Scott Farrar is a non-profit assisted living facility, this fund helps Scott Farrar Assisted Living provide care and services to their residents.
