A 51-year-old man from Budd Lake, New Jersey has died in a single-car accident in Flagler County where a 14-year-old boy was driving.
The accident happened at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 9 at Clove Avenue and Rosewood Street in the Daytona North area of the county. The victim was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The 14-year-old driver, from Bunnell, was uninjured.
The vehicle, a pickup truck, was heading west on Clove Avenue when the accident happened, the report said. The man was hanging on to the open driver-side door while standing on the running boards as the truck was moving.
The 14-year-old lost control of the vehicle, the report said, driving onto the north shoulder of Clove Avenue and ejecting the passenger.
The crash is still under investigation.
