The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has rolled out new software that would allow 911 callers to connect a live video feed to dispatchers.

The software application is called “Prepared Live,” according to a press release from FCSO. It allows dispatchers to text a link to the caller who can choose to allow the application to connect to their camera for a live video feed connection.

The software would also allow dispatchers to text a caller who may be in a hostile situation, the press release said.

“Prepared Live is an additional resource that we can add to our toolbox to better serve our community,” Communications Director Christina Mortimer said.

The software would also enable callers to share their GPS location from their phone, she said.

Dispatchers have been trained on using the program and it is at their disposal to use with the permission of cellphone callers, the press release said.

“In an emergency, people may not be thinking clearly. This technology will allow for our dispatchers to get a more thorough understanding of what is going on in the field,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.
