A 48-year-old man from Puerto Rico died in a car crash on northbound Interstate 95 north of Palm Coast Parkway on Feb. 17.

The man was riding in a pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old man, also from Puerto Rico, at 8:59 p.m. when the driver suddenly switched lanes from the center lane to the outside lane, hitting the left rear side of an SUV, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pickup left the roadway with the SUV, which was driven by a 49-year-old Jacksonville man.

Both cars overturned onto the grass shoulder on the east side of the road and came to rest on their passenger sides.

The 48-year-old man in the pickup truck died, and the 55-year-old driver had minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV had no injuries. Of his two passengers, one, a 49-year-old Jacksonville woman, was uninjured, while another, a 29-year-old Jacksonville man, had minor injuries, according to the report.
