A section of Belle Terre Parkway will be down to one lane for stormwater culvert pipe updates for the next few months.

Palm Coast's Stormwater and Engineering Department is working to rehabilitate the culvert pipes under Belle Terre Parkway, according to a press release from the city. The southbound lane from Belle Terre Elementary to the Indian Trails Sports Complex, three-quarters of a mile, will be closed in 1,000-foot intervals during construction.

Crews will be working on the pipes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, the press release said, and the work is expected to take a couple months. The Stormwater crews began the work in December.

The crews will be removing water from the pipes, cleaning them and then stabilizing the joints and compromised sections with a foam composite, the press release said. The crews will then spray silica-infused concrete around the inside of the pipes, which will extend the life for around 50 years.

Project Manager Andrea Mudryk said in the press release this method is more cost-effective and avoids a full road closure in a traffic-heavy area.
