A Palm Coast man was arrested on Feb.19 after two women said he pointed a gun at them while driving.

The road rage incident started on Interstate 95 and ended with the man arrested on Zebulahs Trail. The 55-year-old man — who does not have a concealed carry permit — was charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one felony concealed carry of a firearm.

The women told Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies that they were driving north on I-95 when a black Ford F250 swerved in and out of their lane, according to an arrest report. The woman driving said she flashed her lights at the other driver to let him know he could merge.

As he merged, the man made several rude hand gestures and flashed a firearm out the window, the report said.

The two vehicles exited I-95 at the State Road 100 exit. The women said they got into the left lane and the Ford got into the far right lane. That was when the man extended his arm out of the driver’s window and pointed the gun at the women’s vehicle, according to the report.

The women were able to get the truck’s license plate number, and FCSO deputies quickly found and arrested the man. They found a Glock 36 under the driver’s seat. The man said he didn’t have a concealed carry permit for it because he didn’t believe a permit was necessary to carry a firearm, the report said.

One of the two women — the one who'd been in the passenger seat — identified the man and the truck as the ones from the incident. The man denied ever pointing a gun at them.
