The construction at Waterfront Park is nearing completion, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Aug. 18.

The ceremony will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and residents are encouraged to attend, according to a press release from Palm Coast.

The work began with a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 30.

Workers are expanding the park’s parking lot and adding a floating dock and a water-access point for non-motorized vessels like kayaks and canoes.

The construction teams are finalizing the site work and laying sod, but the floating dock is complete and has even attracted a family of manatees, the press release said.

The park has remained open to residents during construction, with some partial closures or detours. The enhancements were partly funded through a $533,000 grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District.

Bringing water access to Waterfront Park has been part of the city’s parks master plan since 2005.
