Third time's the charm

Trespass. After receiving a trespass warning, a 43-year-old transient refused to leave a local longterm-stay hotel, and staff again called police to have him removed from the property.

The man also hurled racial slurs at another person, according to a police report.

When the reporting officer spoke with the man during the initial incident, the man refused to listen to him and argued about getting his mail at the hotel. Staff told him he could come back later for his mail.

He returned five minutes later for his mail. Hotel staff, once again, demanded he leave, and the man was issued the trespass warning.

The man returned 10 minutes later — while police were still at the hotel — and was arrested.

Under the influence

3:57 a.m. — Intersection of New Britain Avenue and North Ridgewood Avenue

DUI. Police arrested a 24-year-old Ormond Beach man for drunk driving after they found him found passed out in his parked pickup truck at an intersection.

The man was slumped over the wheel with the keys in the ignition when the reporting officer approached him, according to a police report.

The officer noted an "overwhelming smell of alcohol" coming from the pickup truck and saw two cans of beer inside, both warm.

The officer woke the man up and him to step out of his truck.

The man needed help to do so and was sweating an "abnormal amount," according to the report.

He agreed to perform field sobriety exercises in a nearby parking lot. But once there, he exposed himself to the officer and began to urinate.

The man was taken to jail.
