A display created by the Astronomy Club of Palm Coast will be featured at the Flagler County Public Library's Palm Coast branch through the end of August.

The display showcases recent images from the James Webb Space Telescope, a collection of meteorites, models of satellites and telescopes, and historical and scientific information about space exploration.

“We try to inform people about what’s going on [in space],” said Fred Pellmann, who helped found the club in 2005.

Education has always been a key goal of the club, Pellmann said.

Club members Lee Bentzley and Ralph Treder, who has a Ph.D. in physics, are NASA solar system ambassadors, visiting local elementary school fifth graders to teach them about astronomy.

Ambassadors are volunteers who help share the science and excitement of space exploration, according to NASA’s ambassador website.

The club usually meets once a month at the Palm Coast library.

The group is on vacation but will return to monthly meetings on Oct. 2. For more information, go to astronomyclubpalmcoast.weebly.com.
