Bob Daniels, a resident of Palm Coast and 100%-disabled veteran, served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from July 24, 1962, to Aug. 1, 1984. He retired as a sergeant major. Daniels was involved in the fierce fighting in Vietnam in 1968. As a result of his heroics, he was awarded the following awards: Navy Commendation with Combat V Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Star, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 5 Stars, Navy Unit Citation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was also awarded the Gold and Siver Marksmanship Badges for “Best Marine Squad in the Marine Corps.” There is an effort to upgrade Daniel's Navy Commendation Medal to a Congressional Silver Star. After he retired from the Marines, Bob started an information technology firm called MILVETS, a Certified Veteran Enterprise-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business with the motto, “Timely Production of Quality Work.”
