The Flagler County Sheriff's Office placed Flagler Palm Coast High School in lockdown while pursuing an aggravated assault suspect.

The suspect was found behind the football fields at 2:13 p.m. on Monday, June 12 and taken into custody, according to an email from FCSO Public Affairs Officer Ava Hanner. Flagler County schools let out for summer vacation at the end of May, but, Hanner wrote, some summer school classes were in session at the time of the lockdown.

FCSO deputies received a report of a 19-year-old male with two knives threatening bystanders at apartments on Bulldog Drive at 1:30 p.m., Hanner wrote. The suspect ran toward FPCHS before deputies could arrive at the scene.

The high school was placed in lockdown while FCSO deputies and Flagler County Fire Rescue FireFlight searched the area for the suspect, Hanner wrote.

The FCSO posted on its social media pages about the incident after the suspect was apprehended.

This is a developing story.
