The stretch of Matanzas Woods Parkway from Lakeview Boulevard to Londonderry Drive will close July 5-14 for milling.
Milling is the removal of a road’s top layer of asphalt, and occurs before resurfacing.
That section of Matanzas Woods Parkway needs milling deeper than the 8 inches typically removed before a resurfacing project, Palm Coast Communications and Marketing Director Brittany Kershaw wrote in an email.
The problem was discovered during a milling and resurfacing project that began on June 26.
Several detours are being placed for surrounding roadways, and drivers are asked to allow for additional travel time or use an alternate route, a city press release said. The following detours will be in effect:
The resurfacing project is the first of five planned for major thoroughfares in the city.
The work on Matanzas Woods Parkway extends from U.S. 1 to I-95 and is expected to last three to four weeks, with daily lane closures from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the duration of the project.
