57-year-old Palm Coast man dies in Putnam County motorcycle crash

The man was wearing a helmet that did not meet Department of Transportation requirements, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's report.

A 57-year-old Palm Coast motorcyclist died at the scene of a crash in Putnam County on May 3.

The accident happened at 8:30 p.m. on State Road 20, east of County Road 20A, according to the incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Palm Coast man was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle east on S.R. 20 when he crossed the center lines into the westbound lanes, the report said. The motorcycle hit the driver side of a pickup truck, overturning the motorcycle onto its right side.

The motorcycle rotated and separated the driver from the bike, coming to a stop in a lane closed for construction, the report said. The pickup truck came to a stop in the westbound lanes with no injuries to the two occupants.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet that did not meet Department of Transportation requirements, the report said.
