A diesel spill on May 8 temporarily closed down State Road 100 from the Publix by Roberts Road to the new pedestrian bridge.

The spill was called in at 7:21 a.m. and both lanes were reopened by 9:50 a.m. The spill was contained to the outside, westbound lane and did not get into the swales or environment, according to Stephen Cox, the operations captain at the Flagler Beach Fire Department..

Cox said the department notified the Florida Department of Transportation who sent a crew from Holly Hill to clean up the spill, though most of the diesel was absorbed by the roadway.

The cause from the spill is still unknown, Cox said, but is most likely due to a leak from a vehicle that had been driving on S.R. 100.
