Both Volusia County Government and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office will have sufficient staff on the beach to accommodate the expected larger-than-average crowd this holiday weekend.

As always, beachgoers are encouraged to swim near a staffed lifeguard tower. The ability to find a staffed lifeguard tower may be found on the Volusia County Beaches app or by calling 386-239-7873.

Volusia County Government and the VSO are working in tandem to ensure beachgoers' safety during the upcoming holiday weekend and into the future.

The state legislature has passed the bill that will transfer law enforcement authority on the county's beaches from the Volusia County Beach Safety Division to the VSO upon being signed into law.

The county is actively collaborating and coordinating with the VSO on the transition to ensure the most optimal delivery of public safety upon signing.

Once enacted, VCBSD will continue providing water rescue and other medical services, whereas the VSO will provide law enforcement services.
