Abundant Life Ministries-Hope House is requesting donations and sponsors for its seventh annual "A Christmas to Remember" Christmas event.

The 2023 A Christmas to Remember will be held at the Flagler County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 16. The Christmas event is for children in Flagler County with open cases with the Department of Children and Families.

Sandra Shank, co-founder of Hope House, said 285 children have registered for the event so far, but the ministry is planning for 375 children. Because the event is free, the ministry needs sponsors, donations and volunteers, Shank said.

“The whole thing about A Christmas to Remember is for children and teens … to disengage from all of the craziness of life,” she said, “and actually be a day where they can have fun, where kids can be kids.”

From Nov. 1 to Dec. 12, Abundant Life is hosting a “Gift Giving Drive” for new and unwrapped toys and games, bicycles and scooters for all ages, clothing for children of all ages and gift cards. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

TrustCo Bank — 12 Belle Terre Parkway; Ameris Bank — 181 Cypress Point Parkway; Pinch a Penny — 5200 State Road 100; Five Below — 250 Palm Coast Parkway NE; Palm Coast Ford; Intracoastal Bank — 1290 Palm Coast Parkway NW; Nirvana Wellness — 2561 Moody Blvd.; Hi-Tulip — 400 Beach Village Drive; Back In Action Chiropractor — State Road A1A under Java Joint; Real Estate Synergy — 412 Beach Village Drive; Executive Barbers — 2323 N. State Street

Shank said the ministry especially needs bicycles, tricycles or scooters for all ages. The Celico Foundation is donating 30 bikes, she said, but Abundant Life hopes to be able to give more children bikes as well.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or in sponsoring a child can call 386-313-6381 or email the ministry at [email protected].
